IBB, July 30 ) The Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) in Ibb governorate last Wednesday urged President Ali Abdullah Saleh to respect democracy and principles of political competition and not use state facilities to confront opposition candidates.

JMP leaders in Ibb issued a statement, demanding governmental bodies respect agreements they reached with the ruling General People's Congress (GPC) and avoid using power to confront JMP candidates.

The Ibb-based JMP bureau held a meeting Wednesday, wherein it determined a platform to be implemented among the public in the coming time period. It also established a mechanism for activities the JMP is due to pursue during the upcoming presidential and local elections.

The governorate's JMP branches decided to initiate the electoral campaign of their candidate, Faisal Bin Shamlan, who is running for the country's highest post, with the slogan, “President for the sake of Yemen.”

JMP leaders confirmed that they will announce their candidates for local elections at the government level within 10 days.
