A group of security men attacked Hassan Saeed Azzaedi, a journalist for the Yemen Times, while he was taking photographs of student demonstration in Assetteen Street on Oct. 23.
According to a letter to the Yemeni Journalist Syndicate, he was threatened by a group of security officers who took his camera and pointed their guns at him.
A press release from the syndicate demands that the interior ministry and concerned bodies at human rights organizations interfere, and offer compensation for damages.
Harassing journalists is a flagrant violation of freedom of the press and Yemen’s constitution.
Some of Yemen’s security officials insist on harassing and gagging journalists, accusing them of being agents against their country.
