To make up: Press body pieces lightly on wrong side following instructions on the ball end. Cut 2 pieces of plastic foam slightly smaller than back and front of body. Join sides of both pieces, using a flat seam, leaving openings for spout and handle. Join foam in the same way.
Make proper patterns of crest, beak and eyes by drawing up a piece of stiff paper into 1 in. squares exactly as in diagram.
Copy outlines from diagram onto paper, then cut out each piece to make patterns, cutting round eye on outer line.
Now draw round crest and beak on red felt and eye twice on white felt.
To make patterns for iris, cut round center line on eye pattern, draw round this twice on blue felt.
Cut out all felt pieces on outline. Stitch the 3 pieces of each eye to the head pieces as shown in photograph.
Tack crest and beak in position between head pieces and stitch together. Slip lower edge of head over top edges of body and stitch firmly in position, then join remaining seams on head.
Stitch lower edge of each wing in position on each side of body, leaving top edges free. Slip pad inside the cosy.
