Last landmines stockpile in Yemen destroyed [Archives:2002/18/Local News]
The last warehouse of 8676-anti-personnel landmines were destroyed April 27 in the governorate of Lahaj with the presence of prime minister, Abdulqadir Bajamal, state minister and chairman of Mines Clearance Committee, Muhssen al-Yussefi, and Abdulrahman Mohammed Ali Othman, minister of Trade & Industry.
Yemen is the first country in the world to destroy its anti-personnel stockpile following the signing of the Ottawa Treaty on landmines in 1999.
