Lecture on ophthalmology [Archives:2002/35/Local News]

Sponsored by Al-Mehdar Drugs Foundation, a lecture entitled “An Update in Trachoma” was delivered in August 19 by Dr. Al Hadi Ahmed Ashiekh, ophthalmology professor in Khartoum University.
The lecture comes within the activities of the Ophthalmology Department at Sana’a University and dealt with the one of the serious eye diseases called “trachoma” which is a chronic eye infection characterized by granulations and scarring of the cornea and conjunctiva, caused by the bacterium sometimes carried by flies and other flying insects.
About 60 ophthalmologists representing different public and private hospitals attended the lecture which took place at the Yemeni Consultative Hall in Sanaa.
It is worth mentioning that another lecture was held in August 21 entitled “Orbital Tumors” for the same professor describing tumor diseases that may occur in the eye.
