Lunch Party in Honor of Yemeni Graduates from United Kingdom [Archives:2000/19/Local News]
The British Council and the British Embassy gave last Wednesday May 2 a lunch party in honor of Yemeni students graduated from British universities. Scholarships are sponsored by the British Council and the British Embassy both of which play a role in providing Yemeni intellectuals with a chance to acquire knowledge in Britain to help Yemen in its development process.
In his speech, Mr. Martin Lamport, Charg d’Affaires at the Embassy, asserted that these graduates will be in sustainable contact with the Embassy and that will certainly enhance the Yemen-British amicable social, economic and trade relations.
Mr. Brenden McSharry, Chairman of the British Council, delivered a speech in which he expressed his great happiness for the strong relations of the two countries, especially in the cultural field.
The party was also attended by other five Yemeni students who are finalizing their procedures to travel to prepare their one-year Master Degree. These five students are:
1) Dr. Jamal Ghaylan, the Ministry of Health.
2) Ahmad Al-Yamani, NDI.
3) Areij Taher, Al-Thawrah Hospital.
4) Mohammed Hatem, Yemen Times.
5) Khadijah Al-Sarhi, Sana’a University.
