Yemen possesses a huge marine life including opportunities and components in the field of increasing fish and marine life production as well as tourism, sports, services and other of sea products.
The huge reserve of marine life in Yemen needs investors and efforts to overcome hindrances in addition to working for developing the infrastructures and required services to increase production and attract capitals.
Studies mention that association between investment in the marine life and expanding job opportunities and increasing production would also need a greater encouragement for investors in order to use their finances in utilizing this environment and the richness it treasures. Dealing with the sea has made the Yemeni coastal population acquire long experiences in the area of exploiting marine resources. So instead of aggravation of unemployment problems in the Yemeni society there are many opportunities in the area of fishing and catching marine life as well as establishment of big investment projects providing for the poor and the needy many job opportunities.
Taking care of sea environment means alleviation of the existing crisis in the agricultural sector. Hence emerges the importance of heading towards exploitation of the marine life as the sea forms a good factor to help the poor and the whole question requires offering necessary support for fish cooperatives and provides them with boats to help people get jobs. The unemployed would find it easier when fish cooperatives direct their attention to the sea for work and ensuring a level of income meeting the wants of the poor families. The concerned parties also have to build fish establishments and other services such as refrigerators and freezers for keeping fish catch and machines and spare parts in addition to offering loans to encourage workers to join those cooperative societies and increase production.
It is therefore the cooperatives play a vital and important role for developing skills of workers and develop fish agriculture as well as opening an extensive space for investment in marine life. Finally there must be a stress on the necessity of paying attention to marine environment and life because they are of great economic yield and provide sources of income for the poor.
