Minister of Youth and Sports meets YJS [Archives:2004/768/Local News]

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Abdul-Rahman Al-Akwa'a, met on August 22nd, the board and members of the Yemeni Journalist Syndicate, along with the temporary committee of sports media. The meeting was held to add the final touches for the screening of the upcoming elections for the general assembly of the sports media.
The minister stressed the importance of enforcing rules and regulations on the sports field, and urged journalists to fight corruption, manifested in fanaticism, nepotism, and formalities, in the sports community.
“The misconduct of men on the sports field forebodes disaster. It should be eliminated by the state, out of respect for the institutions and of freedom of expression,' he said.
Mahboob Ali, chief of the Yemeni journalists, praised the minister for his courageous stances, and the achievements of the Yemeni sports media.
The committee from the YJS was appointed to help screening the cadre, according to the prescribed conditions of the YJS, for one month from this meeting.
