A Canadian company with offices in Montreal, Toronto, and Gatineau, in the Ottawa region, is part of a consortium that has just obtained a major contract with the Government of Yemen and the World Bank.
The firm Synerma will lead the implementation of a new financial software application in partnership with two Yemeni companies, Yemensoft and Computer Engineering World (CEW). The World Bank under its Civil Service Modernization Program funds this project, valued at several million dollars.
Directed by Mr. Daniel Dube, Synerma brings recognized expertise in strategic cost and performance management and in public financial management. The firm has already carried out other projects abroad, in particular, for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the governments of Morocco and Ethiopia, and other organizations in France and the United States. In addition to its public sector activities, Synerma has a substantial private sector clientele, especially among manufacturing and service companies.
The Yemeni Evaluation Committee and the World Bank have retained Synerma's services due to the firm's extensive experience in Canadian Government financial operations.
To conduct the project, Synerma will set up a project office in Sana'a, Yemen's capital. Four Synerma employees will be involved in the project, on site or based in the company's Canadian offices, under the coordination of Mr. Jacques Cote, Vice-President of Synerma and President of the Ordre des comptables en management accredite du Quebec (CMA). The Republic of Yemen is located in the southeast region of the Arabian Peninsula, near the Gulf of Aden, and has a population of 18.5 million people.
