MPs to march to US embassy [Archives:2002/17/Local News]

Yemens members of parliament are expected to march in a demonstration to the US embassy to express solidarity with Palestinians and denounce the American stance with Israel this week.
Demonstrations in Sanaa and other cities continued last week.
Students staged demonstration last Sunday, asking for a boycotting of US and Israeli goods.
Other women demonstrators headed last Wednesday towards the US embassy.
Hundreds of protesters expressed outrage towards the American support for the Israeli offensive in the Palestinian territories.
Representatives were allowed to give a letter in the name of Yemeni women to the American ambassador.
The letter threatened that the US interests in the Mideast would be harmed if the US continued supporting the Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people.
On its part, the Yemeni parliament called for boycotting all US and Israeli products, and suspending all agreements and contract signed between Arab and Muslims countries with the US and UK till they give up their biased siding with Israel.
The parliament denounced labeling Palestinian resistance groups as terrorists. It braised the EU stand and demanded that the UN send international forces to protect the Palestinians.
In its statement last Wednesday, the parliament condemned the arrest of Marwan al Barghothi, member of the Palestinian legislation council.
It requested the world to intervene to get him released immediately along with other Palestinian leaders. It urged all the parliaments to pressure Israel to set him free .
The Yemeni committee to support Intifadah has adapted new measures to mobilize financial support for Palestinians.
A nationwide campaign to this end has been kicked off this week by the president who announced donation of YR10 million to the Palestinians.
