Mrs. Niehouse Meets With Political Leaders [Archives:2000/15/Local News]

During her three day-visit to Yemen, Mrs. Merjory Niehouse, head of the Regional Analysis Office in the US. Department of State met yesterday at the American Embassy with leaders of political parties; PGC, Islah, Opposition Coordination Council and the Sons of the Yemeni League represented by its acting chairman Dr. Hassan Bazara’ah, acting secretary Sheikh Ali Ben Ali Al-Sadh and Dr. Ahmad Abdullah Ibn Al-Sheikh Abu Bakr. A number of important issues such as democracy, economic reform, security, tribal conflicts, local government, participation of parties in the upcoming parliamentary elections, etc. were discussed during the meeting. Mrs. Niehouse urged opposition leaders to be one hand to make Yemen an example in the Arabia Peninsula.
Mrs. Niehouse works on reports and information sent by the American political attaches before bringing them before the White House. She left Yemen this morning after visiting Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
