Ministry of Public Health and Population has organized a training course to manage epidemic surveillance. Some 50 participants, representing all public and private metropolitan hospitals, took part in the course.
Infectious diseases have in the past spread quickly in Yemen, making it necessary to have epidemics surveillance and reporting from hospitals the cases of diseases such as polio, and viral hepatitis, especially with the fact that Yemen is going to declare by next year its being a polio-free country. Also, the international surveillance of cerebrospinal meningitis has been introduced into Yemen.
The course focused on discussing the national epidemics surveillance guide, and taught participants how to fill in surveillance forms.
