Ahmed Mohammed Loqman was appointed Chairman of the Board for the General Corporation. His appointment is part of an agenda to revitalize investment, development, air shipment and international trade in the Aden Free Zone.
The development of 74 hectares has been completed by the Aden Free Zone. A road system, water mains, telephone lines and electricity have been implemented by the General Corp. All this has been accomplished through the use of state-of-the-art engineering designs.
The government has been making efforts to regain the business communitys confidence to invest in the Aden Free Zone. The Aden harbor was greatly affected by the USS Cole bombing incident in 2000. After the appointment of Loqman the government announced it intends to take a serious initiative, with a view to transform Aden City to an active commercial and industrial harbor.
Loqman has occupied several positions such as, Minister of General Works and Ambassador to Egypt.
