New child smuggling attempt foiled [Archives:2004/748/Local News]
Security sources stated last Tuesday that security forces foiled last week a new attempt to smuggle 22 children aged 10-12 years old into Saudi Arabia across the border of Saddah Governorate.
According to statistics, the smuggling of children to Saudi remains a problem despite preventive measures taken at the points between the two countries in recent months.
Statistics from the Supreme Motherhood Council 2002 Report, state that Sana'a alone contained about 29,000 street children. According to some sources, the number of children involved in the market place reached nearly 2 million.
