An agreement on financing projects of tourist facilities on the highways was signed on Wednesday October 13th 2004 by the Ministry of Culture and Yemen Oil Company. The agreement states that the company will finance eight tourist facilities between Sana'a, Dhamar, Aden, Taiz, and Ibb. The agreement included constructing 300 bathrooms worth about YR 42 million. Ministry of Culture and Tourism in coordination with Oil Company will decide the authority that will execute the projects while the ministry is going to pay for the advertisements and campaigns that help the facilities.
The facilities will offer tourists the necessary services on the highways.
'The Oil Company finances these projects to participate in supporting the tourist sector and to help in the development,' Omar al-Arhabi, General Director of Oil Company, said.
Nabeel al-Faqeeh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the tourism sector, confirmed that: “The agreement is considered a qualitative transfer to improve the services offered to local and foreign tourists, especially because tourists suffer from a lack of services on the highways that link the provinces with each other; the provision of facilities supports tourism.”
