SANA'A, Dec. 17 ) The oil ministry is training its entire staff to assist new oil discoveries and the current and future production.
On Sunday the ministry opened their new oil training center help qualify the 14,000 ministerial staff members.
“As the short term goal we will qualify this number of staff who without training would be the main burden on the ministry,” said Minister of Oil and Mineral Khaled Bahah. “So the ministry makes efforts to scientifically prepare its staff in order to go in accordance with the ministry work requirements. They will assist the private oil sector.”
In the long term the qualified staff is going to be the foundation of an international oil industry, according to Bahah.
Sam Ebgerton for Canadian Nexen oil company thinks the center's establishment is big event for training in Yemen.
“It will provide a strong base of potential employees for oil companies in the future and it is a very good for the industry and for Yemen for a long time to come,” Ebgerton commented.
Though there is already a Yemeni training team the ministry also brought in foreign trainers from U.S., England and India. “We depend on foreigners to have the best result of training process,” said Bahah. The training courses will focus on technical and presenting skills.
“Though we, the ministry staff, have BA degrees we still lack fundamental skills especially presenting skills,” said the minister.
