Inspectors and architects revealed that the number of cracked houses of old Sanaa has increased from 6 to 47 in the last few months because of heavy rain. The threat became quite evident early this month when some citizens noticed that their houses have shown signs of possible collapse as result humidity. Residents of the Old Sanaa area appealed to the president and the relevant authorities via TV, newspapers and protests to interfere to protect their houses from collapse. On the other hand, Old Sanaa inhabitants appealed on July 15 to the UNESCO and to UAE president Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan through the UAE Embassy in Sanaa to save their houses before it is too late. It is worth mentioning that Old Sanaa was classified by UNESCO in the world heritage list.
