People in Marib grateful for American aid [Archives:2003/654/Local News]

A number of sheikhs, notables and citizens, and officials of local councils in Mareb governorate have expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the American efforts in support of development projects in their governorate.
A number of citizens told Yemen Times Thursday that the assistance to be offered by America after the latest visit by the American ambassador to Mareb were received with satisfaction. The people of Mareb thanked the American ambassador for his understanding of the tribesmen problems and suffering.
Ambassador Edmund J. Hull had said in a statement published on Thursday by 26th September newspaper that the American government has allocated 15 million USD for supporting a number of agricultural and livestock projects in Mareb . He had also mentioned about a study for building a museum in Mareb to house antiquities and to encourage tourism tourism in the area. A hospital, along with doctors training centre are also among the planned projects, in addition to supplying schools there with student desks amounting to 150 thousands.
The ambassador denied that there were Yemeni students detained in the USA and revealed an American intended security cooperation with Yemen by training special Yemeni forces, central security forces and coast guard.
