SANA'A-Oct. 1st – Media reports confirmed last Thursday that the Socatra people are on alert nowadays, looking for firewood in the mountains and coasts because of scarcity of gas, especially now when the fasting month of Ramadan is about to come.

The main reason is the monopoly of the import of gas to the island, which pressures people in the coming of the stormy season.

Though it is now over, the officials seem to fail to come to a compromise with the only importer of the gas.

The Socatra Island people suffered from continuous lack of food and other commodities such as flour and wheat.

The Island's people call for the government to free commodity import to their Island, so that fuel and basic commodities will reach the Island in the appropriate amount and time.
