President Ali Abdullah has reiterated Yemens support to international help with cracking down on terrorism.
He said in his speech in the 12th anniversary of Yemens unification, We condemn all terrorists acts regardless of their spring, mainly Israel terror against Palestinians.
He stressed that there should be a clear definition for terrorism, differentiating between peoples struggle for freedom and independence and terrorism.
He pointed out that justice and putting an end to conflict, particularly the Arab-Israeli conflict, plus curbing poverty and encouraging dialogue between civilizations, all will put an end to terrorism.
He ordered his government to not levy taxes on Palestinian products being exported to Yemen as well as granting 500 scholarships in Yemeni universities for sons and daughters of Palestinian martyrs.
Saleh ordered the Supreme Elections Committee (SEC) to prepare for the parliamentary elections due in April 2003.
He said all political parties should be given room to take part during all election preparation steps. He called all political parties to deal with this issue objectively and fairly.
This time the president did no mention in his speech anything about the civil war of 1994.
He urged the cabinet to give special attention to vocational and technical education, provide more facilities for investors and focus on big strategic projects that provide other opportunities.
