Prices of a number of goods and foodstuffs in the Yemeni market have recently shot up sending cautious wave of expectation that an announcement of a fresh ‘dosage’ is in the offing. For instance the price of a sugar sack is YR 2,750 as against the former price of YR 2,200, the exchange price against the dollar has risen from YR.153 to YR.161 in one month.
Political sources see the recent measures an introduction to enforce a fresh ‘dosage’ that may be approved next September.
