Public Committee In Aden Declared [Archives:2000/19/Local News]

A People’s Committee was declared in Aden Thursday, May 4, 2000. The committee suggested certain goals to be achieved. The major goal is defending people’s rights in Aden. More than 40 academic, party, and press personalities were selected as members of the committee. Dr. Abu Bakir Al-Saqqaf was elected as Chairman of the committee. The goals concentrated on giving priority to occupation, dwelling, lands, health care, and education to people in Aden.
Ayman Mohammed Nasser, Chief Editor of Attareeq Newspaper was summoned by Aden Press and Publications Authority for questioning him about the committee, which was accused by the authority of creating sectarianism.
