Ramadan spirit celebrated by the Turkish International School [Archives:2005/890/Local News]

Turkish International School organized iftar for Turkish nationals on Friday the 21st of October. Most of the Turkish community residing in Yemen were invited to the iftar Among which was his Excellency Turel Ozkarol Ambassador of Turky to Yemen and his wife along with the Chairman of TIS Mr. Faruk Yanik, TIS senior section Principal Mr.Fettullah Karakoc, Director General of Seren Company Mr.Aladdin Ekrekli, the owner of Nur Ak Construction company Mr.Nurettin Asan, and Mr. Walid Al-Saqqaf, ex-editor of Yemen Times, and a number of Turks who work in a variety of Turkish and multinational companies in Sana'a.

Turkish food was prepared and served by the staff of TIS, The atmosphere was exceptional during the iftar, After which the Turkish Ambassador, the Chairman of TIS Mr.Faruk Yanik, TIS Principal Mr. Fettullah Karakoc gave speeches, they stressed on dialogue and mutual understanding among communities. Then a multi media program was presented about the International Turkish Language Competition which was held in Ankara, Turkey earlier this year, in which Yemen won the 4th place in the competition with the song “Yemen Turkusu”. It was very emotional while watching the song in Turkish being sang by the Yemeni students.

Apart from this the teachers, students and parents of TIS gathered aid for over 1000 poor families. TIS organized a charity and food package delivery program this year (2005 Ramadan) for the people in need. The campaign reached more than 1000, determined in advance, needy families. For the families indicated by the Aid Campaign Committee, an arranged food package was distributed by the school staff and the students. The aid package contained the following items: 5 kgs of rice, 5 kgs of sugar, 5 kgs of flour, 4 Liters of cooking oil, 2 kgs of dates, 12 cans of beans and, 1 box of chocolate.

Prominent parents contributed generously towards this noble cause. Mr. Ali al Yamani contributed 1050 packages of chocolate and biscuits produced by the Turkish company SARAY.

The management of RAHA Taxis sponsored the delivery of the packages to the needy people's houses. The packages were delivered to different areas in Sana'a. Such as Shahra Sittin Hayy Kulliyetettayaran Assuwayna ,Shahra Taiz Hayy Annur, Shahra Ishriyn and Hayy Bilal among other areas.

Students and teachers delivered the packages by hand to the houses of the needy families and to the poor students at government schools the packages are delivered under the supervision of the General Directorate of Education of Mintikah Vahde.
