Reconciliation agreement reached [Archives:2002/25/Local News]

Former Heath Minister Dr. Abdullah Abdul Wali Nasher, Mr. Gerret Wada the Dutch expert at the Drug Fund and Saif
al-Hadhiri, editor in chief of al-Shumooa paper have reached an agreement.
Al-Hadhiri shall admit that whatever was published in his paper issues 80-120 in regards to Dr. Nasher and Gerret Weda is untrue. In addition he will publish an apology in the al-Thawra, the Yemen Times and al-Ayyam newspapers.
In response Dr. Nasher and Gerret Weda shall drop the lawsuits they filed against al-Shumooa paper represented by its editor in chief Saif al-Hadhiri.
Text of Agreement
On this day, Wednesday the 24th of April 2002, Dr. Abdullah Abdul Wali Nasher (Ex-Minister of Health), Gerret Weda, Dutch expert at the Drug Fund, and Saif Al-Hadhiri, the editor in chief of al-Shumooa agree to the following:
1-Mr. Saif al-Hadhiri, the editor in chief of al-Shumooa paper, hereby admits that everything published in
al-Shumooa paper issues 80-120 regarding Dr. Abdullah Abdul Wali Nasher and Mr. Gerret Weda is baseless and untrue. He commits to falsify these articles on the last page of al-Thawra and al-Ayyam dailies, and the Yemen Times weekly because al-Shumooa is currently suspended. This is because the articles that were published in al-Shumooa regarding this issue were offending to the said persons.
2-Mr.. Saif al-Hadhiri hereby apologizes to the two gentlemen for these articles, which were published on basis of untrue information. He also apologizes to the public for the same issue.
3-Against this falsification and apology mentioned above, both Dr. Abdullah Abdul Wali Nasher and Mr. Gerret Weda shall withdraw the law suits filed by them at the West Sanaa civil court and the penal judge against
al-Shumooa paper represented by its editor in chief Saif
al-Hadhiri.
4-Both parties agreed that the text of apology and falsification as follows:
Falsification and Apology
Al-Shumooa paper whose editor in chief is Mr. Saif AL-Hadhiri publishes a series of articles on Dr. Abdullah Abdul Wali Nasher, the former minister of public health and Mr. Gerret Weda the Dutch expert of the Drug Fund which included offense to them and accusation of corruption, etc. After investigation, the information on which these articles were based turned to be untrue and baseless.
Accordingly, al-Shumooa paper and its editor in chief Saif al-Hadhiri apologize to both gentlemen and the readers.
5-This agreement was concluded in the presence of Lawyers Abdul Aziz Al-Baghdadi and Hafedh Fadhil.
