Sana'a_ Organized by the General Electricity Corporation, a workshop on geographical data and remote sensing and its applications on electricity was held here on August 25.
A number of participants took part in the workshop such as, managers, engineers, technicians, representatives from the generation sector and distribution, executive unit for electricity projects, and a host of others.
The workshop aimed basically at informing the participants of the new electricity applications applied in a number of the European and Arab countries.
This includes the preparations for a database which relies completely on digital maps linked to computers, analyzing ways of displaying geographical information and making use of those information in implementing and maintaining electricity projects.
A speech delivered by the deputy electricity ministry, Eng. Ahmed al-Aayni putting a great stress on the great significance to bring such highly sophisticated methods which will in turn greatly be timesaving applications as well as reducing the material costs related to electrical defects.
