The Republican Hospital in Taiz hosted during the period July 6-8 the first training session concerning preparations for prompt responses to emergency situations and disasters with the participation of 30 health workers.
The session, organized by the Ministry of Health and Population with the cooperation of the World Health Organization was aimed at getting workers in the health sector to be fully prepared to react promptly to disasters. The session focused on efforts to increase the competence of related workers in the early detection and planning to confront emergency situations through defining the type of disasters expected.
The trainees received lectures from Dr. Hisham Al-Zein, the representative of the WHO and Dr. Ali Sareah, director of the Emergency Department at the ministry.
Vice mayor of Taiz, Mohamed Al-Haj, Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Gharbani, director general of the hospital, and Dr. Abdullah Nadeem, director of the Emergency Division of the hospital attended the opening session.
