RSF Urges Minister of Justice concerning Al-Shomou [Archives:2000/33/Front Page]

Saif Al-Haderi was banned by the court on August 6th from practicing his profession for a period of ten months and to pay two millions for damages to the Education Minister and his assistant. The court also fined the newspaper 650 dollars and Saif Haderi 460 dollars. In February 2000, the court has already sentenced to life banning Jamal Amer. This sentence was finally quashed following pressure by Yemeni journalists and international agencies for the defense of press freedom.
