Russian Embassy Responds to YT [Archives:2000/19/Local News]

In response to a news item published in the last week’s issue of Yemen Times, the Russian embassy sent a letter to the newspaper clarifying the case of the Uzbekistani woman. The embassy said that it always attempts to render help to each and every one of its citizens regardless of their citizenship, Russian or anyone of the former Soviet Union republics. The embassy’s letter said,” Unfortunately we do not have big funds for assistance but the Embassy never remains deaf to the requests about help, particularly when it comes to consular services.” It has also stated that it was rather unfair that the embassy be held responsible for the Uzbekistani woman’s case while her Yemeni husband who has driven her and her 2-years-old kid to the street is left as clean handed.
