Saudi Arabia to Provide Yemen with Security Aid [Archives:2001/48/Front Page]
The Middle East News Line Service said Gulf defense sources confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will indeed fund joint projects with Yemen to improve security and fight insurgency and smuggling along the Yemeni-Saudi borders.
Besides the Kingdom’s commitment to provide Yemen with aid to purchase systems such as night-vision and sensors, Saudi authorities stated that there is a plan to provide assistance to Yemen’s navy in the form of training and systems.
Since the Jeddah border treaty was signed more than one year ago, the two countries have enhanced their security cooperation and the prospect of Saudi aid to Yemen. This comes as the two sides have also agreed on increasing cooperation in fighting terrorism by all possible means .
