The second complementary campaign to terminate infantile paralysis in Yemen concluded last Tuesday in 85 districts of 19 governorates throughout the country. The 3-day campaign succeeded in vaccinating around one million children.
Minister of Health, Dr. Mohamed Al-Nomi said in a press conference that what make this campaign difference are its unique and developed strategy and the way it has been carried out. “In this campaign, we took into account the population distribution and urgency of need to such vaccinations in certain remote areas.”
He added that the results show that this strategy as been more successful than earlier ones. “In principle, I can now safely say that Yemen is indeed a country free of infantile paralysis.” he concluded.
