Security arrested French journalist, and U.S warned its citizens in Yemen [Archives:2006/990/Local News]

SANA'A, Oct, 15 ) Security forces in Shabwa governorate arrested a French citizen illegally attempting to enter the country on Thursday, said Yemen news Agency SABA.

SABA quoted security sources from the Ministery of the Interior saying the French man, Daniel Gerand, was arrested during his attempt to enter Yemen with a group of Somali refugees. The source said Gerand was working on a report for a French Television station.

British media working for UK-based Channel Four have been in Shabow governorate four days reporting on the Somalis arriving on the Yemeni coast.

American citizens are still urged to carefully consider the risks of traveling to Yemen. According to the U.S. Department of State travel warning, the security threat level in Yemen remains high due to terrorist activities, and Americans in Yemen are urged to exercise caution and take prudent measures to maintain their security.
