An armed group kidnapped the son of the prominent military leader, Al-Thafeef, in his region of Hamdan in Mareb, last Friday.
The son was then taken to Al-Majhazah, in the directorate of Sirwah.
Sources say that the kidnappers, who belong to Al Ali Bin Falah tribe, are demanding that the commanders of the 25th Mechanical Brigade pay the salaries of six enlisted officers, who belong to the same tribe and whose names were removed from the Brigade payroll.
The group alleges that the Brigade Commander, who belongs to Hamdan tribe, is the one who instructed the removal of those names.
The Yemeni armed forces usually retaliate against such kidnappers after releasing the hostage by demolishing the homes of the kidnappers, who usually demand a resolution to pending issues amongst themselves in the region, or between them and the government.
