Stiff Measures against Illegal Immigrants [Archives:2001/48/Front Page]

The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday warned illegal immigrants in Yemen that it would take strong measures against them if they do not renew their resident permits. An official source confirmed to YT news of strict measures taken against those who do not hold legal papers in an attempt to crackdown on illegal immigrants.
This comes at a time Yemen is trying to round up foreigners believed to have ties to Islamic fundamentalist groups in an effort to limit terrorist threats in the country.
It was reported earlier that a number of Arab Afghans, some who are not Yemeni, were arrested for suspected involvement in terrorist groups.
