Students Demonstration [Archives:1999/40/Local News]

Last Wednesday Sept. 29th, 1999, Taiz witnessed a big demonstration organized by the students obliged to do the compulsory military service and who haven’t been sent to their camps. The demonstration was dispersed by the police. Some students were injured and some others were arrested and taken to prison. The demonstrating students complained about the delay of sending them to camps. They also said that some of the students who could pay money were soon sent to the best places. Mr. Al-Hajry, Taiz’s governor, visited the Reception Camp and asked the students to go back to their homes tell they were needed. Y.T. Taiz Office
