Study confirms weak tourism [Archives:2005/804/Local News]
A study has confirmed the increasing fall of Yemeni tourism.
The study, prepared by the Internal Tourism Organization consultants and the World Bank, attributes this weakness to a drop in individual, a lack of tourism and travel companies and agencies in addition to lack of tourism infrastructure.
The study has also verified that qat chewing and its economic consequences make the majority of the community think that local tourism is an impossible matter.
The study has also warned of extinction of traditional handy crafts components such as silvery makes, pottery, coppery, leathery, wooden carvings, traditional clothes, since tourism helps these traditional work opportunities.
