Superb Handling of Hunaish File [Archives:1998/05/Front Page]

The Yemeni team handling Yemen’s case with the arbitration court on the Hunaish dispute has done a superb job. According to lawyers familiar with the case, the Yemeni side, headed by Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdul-Karim Al-Iryani, has prepared a convincing file full of maps, treaties, and other relevant documents.
The two sides, Eritrea and Yemen, claiming ownership of the Hunaish Archipelago in the Red Sea, have just presented their counter-memoires. The panel of 5 judges has closed off court deliberations. They are expected to pass their verdict on the dispute within a few months. The verdict is final and binding to both countries.
