Symposium on Human rights in Taiz [Archives:2003/662/Local News]

TAIZ, August 23 – Organized by the Women Forum for Researches and Training (WFRT) in collaboration with the Global Woman Fund, a symposium was held in Taiz to discuss the possibilities of coordination and cooperation among civil society organizations, the public freedoms committee and human rights along with other human rights activists at the Taj Shamsan Hotel Hall in Taiz August 24.
Around 40 participants took part in the symposium representing different governmental bodies such as, local councils, security administration, public prosecution, police stations, etc.
NGOs, development and human rights societies, mosque preachers, representatives from, syndicates and unions and a host of human rights activists also took part in the symposium.
During the event, participants focused on work mechanisms to enhance relations between civil society organizations and the public freedoms committee at the parliament and exchanging experiences for improving and promoting legislation.
“We believe in the necessity to coordinate and keep in touch with civil society organizations in order to promote legislation,” Ms. Suad al-Qadasi, the WFRT's chairwoman remarked.
