A symposium on the international humanitarian law was concluded on Wednesday as organized by the moral guidance circle in the armed forces in cooperation with the international committee for Red Cross (ICRC). The participant received over 4 days number of lectures, knowledge, and information about the international humanitarian law. At the conclusion ceremony Vice chief of General Staff Ali Saeed Ubaid delivered a speech in which he said the results of the symposium are important in respect to spreading concepts of the international humanitarian law and the implications of the Geneva conventions and protocols which were ratified by Yemen. He pointed out that the cooperation between the armed forces and security and ICRC is not new rather it is an expansion of positive cooperation with the aim of developing the armed forces and security and up dating it with the knowledge and legal information. He also expressed appreciation to the teaching staff for efforts exerted for qualifying the individuals and officers of the armed forces and security. In his part chairman of ICRC York Cons reviewed the cooperation between the ICRC and the armed forces and security as well as the training courses which were held by the ICRC. ” The republic of Yemen represented by the leadership of the armed forces and security has taken a serious and an precedent step in the Arab world by issuing a clear resolution for inserting the article of the international humanitarian law in training programs of the armed forces and security,” Cons said.
