Prices Downward
TeleYemen, the local internet service provider, is increasingly being shunned by customers. Not only is it losing out on the new demand, but many of its present subscribers have frozen their activities. The reason is unreasonable prices. Most of the new demand for internet services is being met through direct subscription in the USA. TeleYemen, whose total subscription has been stuck for a while around 10% of the local market, has now decided to revise its prices downward. There is actually a bigger problem in store for the Yemeni-British company. The e-mail service has been eating away on the number of international telephone calls, the largest source of revenue for the company. In addition, international telephone companies are pushing for enormous reductions in tariffs.
