Telpherage project’s foundation stone laid in Aden [Archives:2003/654/Local News]

Governor of Aden Dr. Yahya Mohammed al-Shuaibi on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a tourist telpherage project, part of Al-Ghadeer tourist project at Buraiqa district, one of private sector investments.
Attending the ceremony were the assistant deputy of the governorate and chairman of the board of directors of al-Kuhali establishment for industry and trade who gave explanation on the tourist project implemented for the first time in Yemen and to be executed by a Chinese company at a cost of $5 million.
The teleferic project is 1324 meters long and consists of 50 carriages, each holding two passengers, a launch room, a rest house and ground services, and a rest house and services at the top of the mountain.
A trip takes between half to one hour. Work has already started on this brilliant project on 24 of current July and expected to be finished in ten months. Teleferic train of coaches costs $ 2.800 million, $ 600 thousand for installation and YR 70 million for construction works. The project is part of al-Ghadeer tourist resort and consists of 66 chalets, 25 villas scattered on the mountain, restaurants, cafeterias, a 250-meter-long corniche and many other services, such as a sports club, a diving center and two tourist yachts.
This project is hoped to enrich tourism in Aden and to become a special feature of tourism in the country as a whole.
