The Russian community in Yemen Take part in the Presidential Election [Archives:2000/13/Local News]

The Russian Community (RC) in Yemen took part in the Russian presidential elections that took place Yesterday in three polling centers in Sanaa, Aden and Taiz. The Russian community numbers in Yemen are estimated at 500,;350 in Sanaa, 100 in Aden and the others in Taiz and the other cities. The RC cast its votes two days prior to the elections day to make use of the week end vacation. It estimated that participation rate in voting is 70% because some of them could not participate because of their being in remote areas.
Around 108 million out of the Russian population 150 million were eligible to vote in the elections. Reports coming from Moscow today early morning show that the acting president of Russia Mr. Botin has got 51% of the votes while his strongest challenger the communist leader Mr. Jinady has got 35%.
