Aden is to be the host of the 75th session of the Arab League Economic and Social Council Feb. 16 and 17.

The session will see the participation of Arab ministers of economy, industry and trade.

The city of Aden has been selected to be the venue of the meeting to highlight the Yemeni government attention to the future of the Free Zone in the city, the container port and also to attract investors.

The meeting, that would be under the auspices of the Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh, is scheduled to discuss essential premises including preparation of the economic dossier that would be submitted to the Arab Summit Conference in Algiers scheduled for next March.

The meeting will also discuss how to implement the greater Arab Free Trade Zone, and how to activate the agreement on Arab investment, as well as mechanisms determining trade of services and rules of establishments in the Arab homeland.

Yemen Times has learned that the meeting would also touch on the topic of facilitating the trade movement among the Arab countries, and issues pertaining to the Arab Economic and Social Council and restructuring it in compliance with Arab summit resolutions held in Tunisia last year.
