Training Course for Basketball Referees [Archives:1997/42/Sports]

A training course for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade basketball referees was concluded on Thursday, October 16th at the Ahli Club in Sanaa. The course was organized by the General Basketball Association as part of a general program of training and qualifying implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. A number of referees from Aden, Hodeida, Sanaa, Taiz, Hadhramaut, and Ibb attended the course. It included 14 theoretical and practical lectures on the basketball rules and means of refereeing. The topics included personal friction, penalties, personal error of judgment, delegating responsibilities and tasks among referees, etc. Practical applications in the field were also displayed. Supervised by the General Directorate of Training at the Ministry of Youths and Sports, the lecturer was the international referee, Mr. Jameel Abu Ayham.
