U.S. embassy attacker to be tried soon [Archives:2002/14/Front Page]

Investigations disclosed that Samir Yahia Awadh, the Yemeni student who threw a grenade at the U.S. Embassy compound has no terrorist connections.
Sources say the incident is being treated as an individual crime carried out due to the mans psychological disturbances, suffered, in part, due to family problems.
He has been undergoing psychological therapy in Sanaa.
The investigating team into the incident informed the Americans of the investigating results, saying it had no political or terrorist incentives, one official said.
He added that the case file will be soon forwarded to the prosecution.
Other sources said previously the attacker belongs to the Central Security Forces.
Awadh threw a grenade into the U.S. embassy compound, March 15, but caused no damage.
Security guards arrested him just after the explosion.
He has been charged with terrorism, and endangering others lives, as well as possessing illegal weapons.
Awadh is expected to stand trial soon.
