UK Ambassador in Sanaa, the Honorable Victor J. Henderson, wrote to Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqqaf pledging support for the Yemen 21 Forum. The embassy decided to provide a lecture-presentation kit (camera/computer-connected projector) and a microphone system for the forum.
Ambassador Henderson’s letter also states: “I am happy to join the Board of Y21F, along with a number of distinguished Yemenis and colleagues from the Sanaa Diplomatic Corps”.
Yemen Times is the largest donor to the organization. The German Embassy had earlier donated 5 computers. Japan’s embassy is expected to announce its donation in the near future.
The Y21F is an NGO dedicated to the promotion of the values of the 21 set century – democracy, human rights, press freedom, tolerance, and broader participation in public life. It will do that by supporting the rise, growth and effectiveness of NGOs.
The Y21F will start its activities immediately after of Ramadhan or second half of January 1999.
