Verification about Anti-corruption Committee candidates [Archives:2007/1041/Local News]

SANA'A, April 10 ) Five candidates from the Anti-corruption Committee applied for withdrawal including Ali Ahmed Nasser Al-Awash, Ahmed Abdulrahaman Qarhash, Abdulrahaman Salem Dhaiban, Abdulsalam Al-Athwari, and Abdulaziz Al-Kumaim according the parliamentary committee in charge of the Anti-corruption committee affairs.

The last Sunday's session witnessed a lengthy debate about the backgrounds of Anti-corruption Committee candidates and the guarantees that ensure their excellent performance. The parliament decided then to postpone making a decision until a concerned committee could make verifications about the candidates.

Head of General People Congress block in the Parliament stressed the importance of verifying the backgrounds of candidates, together with their qualifications and capacities to perform such a task.

Many opposition MPs supported the suggestion raised by Al-Barkani; while MP Ali Abu Huliqa assured that the verification of documents is the responsibility of the Consultative Council.

It is worth-mentioning that most Anti-corruption candidates belong to the General People Congress.
