Workshop on children [Archives:2003/681/Local News]
Sana’a, Oct. 25- Organized by the Childhood and Motherhood Supreme Council, a workshop on social awareness on child’s rights was held Oct. 24 in cooperation with the Radda Barnen, a Swedish organization interested in child’s rights.
A number of working papers were presented by researchers and child’s specialists.
The workshop focused on the role of the media in disseminating and establishing a solid pyramid for child’s rights, and noted that in order to help children, particularly in remote areas, mobile libraries should be provided for them. Those libraries contain miscellaneous writings, TV, video and other means useful for children’s capabilities.
Several topics were also discussed during the workshop, such as using stories of Yemen authors relating to children’s literature.
The Barnen organization’s speech was delivered by Mrs. Marie Merglund, dealing with childhood and motherhood projects run by the group since its founding in 1963.
