A workshop will start on Thursday 18 February in the city of Mukalla in Hadramout on the regulations concerning the import and use of material that causes depletion of the vital ozone layer.
The workshop is part of a series of activities launched by the General Authority to Protect the Environment, which has already held similar activities in most of the Republic's governorates. The activities are being done in cooperation with the chamber of commerce of Mukalla along with a number of NGOs in Hadramout.
Mr. Faisal Ahmed Nasser, the head of the ozone unit of the Authority told Yemen Times that the regulations being discussed are of great importance as they will contribute in setting conditions to provide licenses and to monitor any violations that could damage the environment.
“These regulations are of major importance as they would control the import of materials that cause the depletion of the ozone layer, and would be instrumental in regulating the use of such material within Yemeni territory.” he said.
