World Day to combat tobacco [Archives:2004/742/Local News]

On the occasion of the World Day against Smoking, an activity will be held at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Aden University, on Monday 31, May 2004. Yemen participated in June of last year in the signing of the international convention to combat tobacco.
A team of cancer patients' supporters, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine's Cancer Center, has prepared a working plan and activities with the aim of increasing awareness and reducing the number of smokers in Yemen, including installing special corners at local markets distributing and handing out leaflets, putting stickers at some public places and inside public transportation, and displaying short films.
Some of the activities focus on the role of women in combating smoking, which will take place at the Women's Union Headquarters.
These activities will be attended by a number of international organizations and social and political dignitaries in Aden Governorate.
