Organized by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, in cooperation with the ILO, UNICEF, and WHO, a seminar starts in Sana’a today, October 6th. It will last till the 8th. Several governmental bodies, employers’ and workers’ organizations, NGOs, and international organizations are taking part in this seminar. The youthful Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Eng. Mohammed Al-Tayyeb has been quite active in various aspects of women labor as well as the negative phenomenon of child labor. According to statistics released by the ministry, abut 6.5% of the work force in Yemen is composed of children. Denied proper schooling, most of these children grow up to be illiterate. The seminar aims to address this dangerous phenomenon by reviewing experiences from other Arab and foreign countries, and adopting a suitable policy for the Yemeni society.
